Dear
Kevin and Ginger,
I would like to thank the SPOT! and my wonderful instructor, Debbie
Walker for all she taught me, and for the one-on-one time and
patience she gave to me to ensure that I understood the material.
Debbie had complete knowledge of the lessons, and was always available
to answer any questions I had while doing the exercises. Her explanations
were very informative and easy to understand.
I would highly recommend the SPOT! to anyone who wanted to further
educate themselves on the computer. By taking the General Office
Proficiency course, and then furthering me knowledge with Advanced
training, I really notice a difference in both my knowledge and
ease on the computer, and also in the volume and quality of job
interviews I was called in for.
Once again, thank you, and I wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Brenda Kilburn
To Whom it may Concern,
I just want to say that when I first started taking this class my
first thought was this is going to be impossible there's no way
that I can do this. What am I trying to say that with mike’s
help it’s been a little easier I have never done nothing like
this in my life but hoping that I'm going to get trough with this
course And get a job in a field out there. I know that I have to
take some more English classes to better my grammar And cant forget
about mary her teaching skills are great.
Respectfully,
Hector D Rochin

To Whom It May
Concern:
The SPOT! has been a great educational experience for me so far.
I had attended another school for a brief time they didn’t
have time for questions I decided to look for another school where
they might work at a pace where someone with no computer experience
could learn. I then came here now we work at a pace where you can
actually learn something Michael
Evans is very patient his style of teaching allows you hands
on training. The one on one training he provides is invaluable to
us though probably challenging for him as a teacher. Mary and Michael
are very polite and friendly and promote a happy learning environment
I in fact have recommended this school to friends.
Respectfully,
Florene Collins
Dear Ginger,
When it was
announced that Texas Instruments was closing down, I decided to
take the opportunity to enhance my computer skills. I chose the
SPOT! for 2 reasons: (1) located near my home; and (2) small classes.
I chose the fall of 2001 to take an Advanced Office Applications
class and Small
Business Accounting with QuickBooks.
Once I was done
with these 2 classes, I started looking for work in January 2002.
While I was looking, I also took a couple of short classes that
wouldn't interfere with my job search activities: QuickBooks, Quark
Xpress and Dreamweaver. During the time I was looking for work,
I wasn't sure what I was going to do, I just knew that I no longer
had any interest working in the high tech industry. Since I was
planning on change in careers, I knew it would take longer and be
a little tougher in this job market. I applied to about 5 places
a week. In the meantime, I had applied to the County of Santa Cruz
for a Typist/Clerk III position. About a month after I had applied,
I was invited to take a test. A couple of weeks after taking the
class, I had gotten my exam results back, and landed in the top
10!
While I was
going through the process with the County of Santa Cruz, I had interviewed
for 4 other positions but no job offers. I really wasn't all that
concerned since I hadn't interviewed for 13 years
and obviously was very rusty in interviewing skills. By the time
the
County had notified me to interview for 2 different vacancies in
the
Typist/Clerk III classification, I knew I was getting close to getting
a
job. I got the job with the Workforce Investment Board of Santa
Cruz
County after only looking for work in a little less than 4 months.
Looking for work is never easy, especially during these tough times.
You have to put in a lot of effort to make it happen and especially
if you are changing careers like I did, but it can be done. I thank
the SPOT! for the support I got during this period of time. I had
GREAT instructors, use of a computer during open lab, and good advice
of how to format my resume.
Thank you,
Lisa Quail
